Uncoated NdFeB magnets will rust. There are various ways to protect magnets, from electroplating with nickel or zinc to using organic coatings such as epoxy. There is also a range of specialty coatings that can be applied at a higher cost.
A good coating is a smooth surface, no corner leakage, and is not easy to wear.

NdFeB is a sintered body and does not perform well under impact. Often, the material will split, and in some cases, the magnet will break into two or more.
A good permanent magnet will have a gasket to prevent the opposite sex from attracting, but the pulling force is relatively strong.
