What is the difference between NdFeB and ferrite magnets?


    We are all familiar with magnets. With the progress of science and technology and the development of the times, magnets have been widely used by people. Because there are many types and shapes of magnets on the market, we need to understand the purpose of magnets when we use them. Most of the magnets we use now are NdFeB magnets and ferrite magnets, so what's the difference between them?


    NdFeB magnets have the advantages of high performance and good mechanical properties; the disadvantage is that the Curie temperature point is low, the temperature characteristics are poor, and it is easy to pulverize and corrode. Its chemical composition needs to be adjusted and surface treatment methods used to improve it to meet the requirements of practical applications. Nd-Fe-B belongs to the third generation of rare earth permanent magnets. It has the characteristics of small size, light weight and strong magnetism. The advantages of high energy density make NdFeB permanent magnets widely used in modern industry and electronic technology.


    Ferrite magnets are ferromagnetic metal oxides. In terms of electrical properties, ferrites have much higher resistivity than metal and alloy magnetic materials, and also have higher dielectric properties. The magnetism of ferrite also exhibits high permeability at high frequencies. Therefore, ferrite has become a non-metallic magnetic material widely used in the field of high frequency weak current. It belongs to non-metallic magnetic material, which is a composite oxide (or ferrite) of magnetic ferrous oxide and one or more other metal oxides.
