Application range of NdFeB magnet

Oct 29, 2022

Application range of NdFeB magnet

Electroacoustic field: loudspeaker, receiver, microphone, alarm, stage audio, car audio, etc.

Electronics and appliances: permanent magnet vacuum circuit breaker, magnetic holding relay, electric energy meter, water meter, sound level meter, reed tube, sensor, etc.

Motor field: VCM, CDDVD-ROM, generator, motor, servo motor, micromotor, motor, vibration motor, etc.

Mechanical equipment: magnetic separator, magnetic separator, magnetic crane, magnetic machinery, etc.

Medical treatment: nuclear magnetic resonance instrument, medical equipment, magnetic health care products, magnetic oil economizer, etc.

Other industries: magnetic wax preventer, pipe descaler, magnetic clamp, automatic mahjong machine, magnetic lock, window magnet, stationery magnet, luggage magnet, leather magnet, toy magnet, tool magnet, craft gift packaging, etc.

The third generation rare earth permanent magnet NdFeB is the strongest permanent magnet in the contemporary magnets. Its BHmax value is 5-12 times that of ferrite magnet and 3-10 times that of aluminum nickel cobalt magnet; Its coercivity is 5-10 times that of ferrite magnets, and 5 times and 15 times that of aluminum nickel cobalt magnets. Its potential magnetic performance is extremely high, and it can absorb 640 times of its own weight.

Since the main raw material of NdFeB magnets is iron, which is very cheap, the storage of rare earth neodymium is 10-16 times that of samarium, so its price is far lower than that of samarium cobalt magnets.

The mechanical properties of NdFeB magnets are better than samarium cobalt and aluminum nickel cobalt magnets. It is easier to cut and drill holes and process complex shapes.

The disadvantages of NdFeB magnets are poor temperature performance, large magnetic loss at high temperatures, and low maximum operating temperature. Generally, it is about 80 ℃, and the maximum working temperature of specially treated magnets can reach 200 ℃.

As the material contains a large amount of neodymium and iron, this is also a major weakness of its corrosion. Therefore, Nd-Fe-B magnets must be coated. Electroplated nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn), gold (Au), chromium (Cr), epoxy resin, etc.

NdFeB magnets are widely used in aerospace, electronics, electromechanical, instrumentation, medical and other fields. Moreover, the application of non-technical fields is more and more extensive, such as attraction magnets, toys, jewelry, etc.
