Several Precautions for the Use of Ferrite Magnets

Several Precautions for the Use of Ferrite Magnets
Although the magnetic force of ferrite is not as good as that of neodymium iron boron magnets, we still need to understand some precautions. The following mainly introduces safety, design, operation, and other aspects.
1. Safety precautions
a) Depending on the material, the magnetic force of some anisotropic ferrite magnets will decrease at low temperatures. Please be sure to check the performance of the magnet at standby temperature.
b) Ferrite magnets are commonly used for transmission. Due to the high susceptibility of materials to cracking, appropriate measures should be taken to prevent impact.
2. Design considerations
a) If the magnetized magnets are stacked together, it will be difficult to separate. Spacers (such as cardboard) can be used to separate magnets.
b) If a magnetizing magnet attracts a metal plate, or if two magnetizing magnets attract or repel each other, the magnetic force of the magnet will decrease. Therefore, you should pay more attention when using it.
c) If a magnetized magnet enters an AC or DC magnetic field, the magnetic force of the magnet will decrease.
d) Magnetizing magnets can attract debris (such as iron filings), so please open the packaging in a dust-free environment.
e) Even without magnetization, the magnet will still be attracted by smaller magnets, so attention should be paid during operation. In addition, when installing magnets on precision motors, please clean them before use.
f) Depending on the material, each magnet has its own unique Curie temperature. If heated close to the Curie temperature of a ferrite magnet, it will lose its magnetic force.
g) If the magnet is fixed (for example, fixed to the yoke by suction), a suitable adsorption method should be selected so that it does not maintain mechanical deformation after adsorption. If a magnet is used while still applying residual stress, it may rupture under slight impact.
h) Ferrite magnets are not resistant to impact and are prone to breakage, so caution should be exercised when using them. Breaking can lead to cracking of magnetic properties and loss of rigidity.
3、 Precautions for operation
a) Please keep ferrite magnets away from tapes, floppy disks, prepaid cards, CRTs, magnetic tickets, electronic watches, or similar items. Due to magnetization, recorded data may be lost or malfunctioning.
b) Please keep the magnet away from electronic devices such as measurement boards and control boards, otherwise it may cause malfunctions or accidents.
c) When cutting ferrite magnets, please note that the generated magnetic particles may spark due to friction. Please keep the magnet away from ignition sources or flammable materials. As a fire prevention measure, necessary equipment such as dry powder fire extinguishers and sand should be prepared. In addition, electric vacuum cleaners should not be used.
